BA Degree Show/Free Range Work
"The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity." (Alberto Giacometti)
The triptych, Passages, comprising of Part 1, Elements; Part 11, Connections, and Part 111, Traces, completed for my BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Hereford College of Arts. This work and the installation created for it formed my Degree Show exhibit, which I then took on to show at the Free Range graduate show. s exhibition
Every year Free Range, the UK's largest graduate art show, held in The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, provides a platform for emerging artists and 'brings a new generation of cutting-edge creative talent to public view'. Taking place annually, Free Range brings the work of around 800 students from 50 leading universities to east London over the course of a three-week summer run. For students, it's an opportunity to showcase their work on an international level. For the public, it's a (free) chance to spot the latest trends and newest talents.
"Popular with the Shoreditch crowd on the weekends, The Old Truman Brewery houses more than 200 small, creative businesses, a bar and several areas for hire. It encompasses 19 buildings, linked by a series of alleyways and courtyards, but the main area - the Boiler House - is easily identified by its 49-metre chimneystack with 'Truman' written up the side."
